| History |
Losing his entire gang in a hail of gunfire at the age of 17 must've been the best thing to ever happen to Bishop. As far as we know, that's where it all started for him. Before then he was like any other young street rat, making his way through a dangerous world, having to swear loyalty to a gang in order to keep myself from being jacked, or just because he wanted a place to sleep. His reasons were his family. Bishop comes from a large, and relatively poor family, but very close and very protective of eachother.
When President McAlister's withdrew all federal forces from California in 2036, prior to California's sucession from the UCAS, Bishop's father, who was a sergeant in the UCAS army, found himself tranfered to Fort Lewis, Seattle. Since Bishop's father had been taking care of better part of his family - aunts, cousins, in-laws, etc - they moved, too. There was no room for them all to settle on the base, so many of them found cheap housing and shit-paying jobs in Tacoma, around the docks. When Bishop's father died, October 1st, 2039, three days before Bishop's 13th birthday, the family was forced to move away from the base, living with their family in Tacoma again. Having lost the major bread-winner in the entire family, soon they started falling on hard times.
A military brat, Bishop was quickly picked out by the local gang's warchief for his discipline and build. They made him an offer; a way to make some money to provide for his family and the added bonus of not having to pay protection money to the gang any longer. Bishop decided to take the offer, and he shot through the ranks quickly, setting himself apart from the others through superior negotiation skills and intimidation, and not through brute strength, as the warchief had expected. Bishop became a valued addition.
Four years later the gang was wiped out. Bishop one of the few survivors of an attack from a rival gang. Bishop decided to take all the valuables that were left in the gang's regular hide out. The other remaining gang members didn't dare to protest. He found a cache of weapons, some drugs, some chips and some money. He sold the drugs and chips, and set out to find some people to take the pistols, rifles and grenades he salvaged, using his money to get in touch with the right people.
Now, years later, Bishop is still doing the same thing. He has built up an extensive network of people at whose address he can buy and sell arms and equipment. Rather than competing with some of the bigger syndicates dealing in arms, he made it a priority to get to know them, get involved with them, but still remain largely independent. He figures that as long as he doesn't get greedy, he can make healthy profit. |
