| Description |
A man in his late thirties with short silvery grey hair, obvious cybereyes and a strong jaw. He stands about 6'2" and walks with the careful step of a military man. His clothing is common street clothing but is always six months out of style or so. He is never armoured and carries very little possessions on his body. He seems to have a very good command of the English language though his slightly olive skin would betray a European influence.
His cybereyes are pretty obvious lenses, a heritage from the late '40's or early '50's. Most of the regular cyberware are slightly more advanced than this, but only slightly. Good alphaware would be less bulky. |
| Personality |
He has a stern and calm demeanor that gives him somewhat of a commanding presence. He never seems cocky due to his calmness, but can seem awfully annoyed at people who ask needless questions.
Some people claim that he has no possessions and therefor cannot be traced easily. People also claim that he feels that it only limits him in his choices of going where he wants to, when he wants to.
He loathes giving out more information than is strictly necessary. He feels that he is best capable of judging what a person should or shouldn't know about work, and he feels that if everyone will do their job right, everybody will become better because of it. He doesn't believe in backstabbing, and therefor will act in the best interest of the runner as much as possible. If a job is difficult he will tell you so.
...personally, I think that's the biggest load of bulldrek I've ever heard. |
| History |
Nicholas van Zant simply appeared in the shadows working mostly out of Seattle and sometimes out of Denver, all back in the early '50's. Some say he was a runner himself, some say that he had a brilliant career in the UCAS military before he switched to the shadows for reasons unknown. Whatever it is, he showed up and took charge of Ares' covert operations. He quickly became one of Ares' prime Johnsons, but nobody is really sure if he's a one-corp guy.
In 2053, he disappeared off the streets for a while, only to resurface, seemingly detached from Ares, as a free agent. People say he works, and has worked for The Morian, though those rumours are about as unconfirmed as the existence of The Morian himself. |

>>>>>[The Morian is a spook-story. He doens't exist. Come on, fer real; nobody's ever seen this guy, nobody really knows the guy. Everyone thinks they might've worked for him, but they're not sure. This whole Morian-thing is just something someone made up to up his rep. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[I posted the following here, and I thought I'd put it in this relevant SIG, too.
That was Mr. Nicholas van Zant, former Ares employee on a discretionary budget, hidden deep down in the basement of some shell company. He was one of their primary Johnson for the entire North-West region, working out of Seattle, until they "let him go" in 2053. Official reason - as far as that's possible in this business - were irreconcilable differences regarding some of van Zant's managerial decisions. Unofficially, the word on the street has it that van Zant's frequent decision to terminate an "unwilling" subject of an extraction instead of seeing them in the employ of the competition, coupled with his diminishing reputation as one who would gladly burn a runner, or whole groups of them, in favour of results made it almost impossible for him to meet the targets that Ares set out for him.]<<<<<
