| Due to the fact that lately there've been a lot of people who use false, or wrongfully spelled, e-mail addresses, I'll be looking into changing the registration process so that your e-mail address has to be verified before completing the registration process. The reason is that I get all the bounced e-mails for account registrations and shadowtalk registrations. It pisses me off. |

The following e-mail bounced to the e-mail address you submitted;
Ace,
I'm guessing it's the following; one of the fundamental mistakes I made when I designed the website, and one that will hopefully be remedied sometime soon, is that you have to register for both the site, as well as the forums, but seperately. So when you register on the site - and judging by the subject of this e-mail, you have - it doesn't mean you can post on the forums; you'll need to register seperately. Also, what I've noticed is that under certain circumstances, the cookie for the site and the cookie for the forums are in conflict.
So there you have it. Keep an eye on whether or not you're trying to log on to the site, or the forums.
Sorry for the inconvience. It's a noted nuisance and hopefully one that will soon be remedied.
Regards,
Dennis (DV8)

Hi,
Got the confirmation email, was logged on for a bit, then the system kicked me off. Now it's saying I'm entering invalid name and password.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

.: Development
There's not much news to report; my Shadowrun game is still on hold, and with that the full-on development of this website. However, I've been putting some of my old websites back online, redoing them as I go, and I'm getting hit with the development bug again (no, not that kind of bug), and I wouldn't rule out that I'll start doing some stuff here and there before my game starts up again.
.: S-run.net
I was shocked to see that I was accused of stealing the site design from a guy by the name of SuperFly, who maintains s-run.net, a website dedicated to UnderNet's #s-run channel. When confronting him with my objections, he said it was an in-joke I wasn't privvy to, that people visiting his website knew about the joke, and that it wouldn't reflect badly on me. I had, and still have, a differing opinion. I don't subscribe to his point of view that everyone that visits his website is in on the joke, and that it does indeed reflect badly on me, as well as my website.
Even though links are usually put up to endorse other websites, I didn't realise it was absolutely normal to take cheap jabs at them while you did it. I asked SuperFly if he could remove the libel or remove the link altogether, he said that he wouldn't because competition between websites is a good thing. I don't agree...obviously.
.: Posting Activity
And lastly, I'm happy to report that there's been some nice activity in the Dunkelzahn's Bequests section, due to some new members and a renewed interest by some old members. |

Not much news on this front as our Shadowrun game hasn't picked up yet. We're happily playing Call of Cthulhu at the moment, and that game doesn't look like it'll end soon. So updates will have to wait.
On a lighter note; ever since Google finally decided that my website was worth returning as a query result, this site has been getting crazy amounts of pageviews. The average amount of pageviews per day has doubled in the last few weeks. Perhaps it'll be enough of an incentive to get working on some of the plans I've been brewing for a while now.
But for now...patience. |

| Over the last several weeks, as you might or might not have noticed, things have gotten a little quiet on wRx. Mostly because of two things; 1) My two week vacation and 2) the fact that our group has decided to halt playing Shadowrun in favour of Call of Cthulhu for a little while. Updates of the site will slow down, but hopefully not come to a complete halt, and undoubtedly will be picked up again once we start playing Shadowrun again. |

| When you think of organised crime in 2060, you always think of the usual suspects; the Mafia, the Yakuza, the Triads and the Seoulpa Rings. One that's always forgotten are the Vory v Zakone, or "Thieves with a Code," former Soviet gangsters whose influence has always been under-appreciated. Their strength comes from their conviction that if you have nothing to lose you'll be stronger. If you have no ties, nothing can hold you back. They live their lives in jail, considering freedom to be a temporary state between incarcerations, and considering prison to be their one true home. |

It's a pretty common occurrance for one of the players in our group to keep an in-character journal or log of the events that unfold during our campaign. This has two reasons; 1) as a GM I always start with a recap of what happened the last session, in order for everyone to be up to speed, and 2) to get back in the mood. If a player writes an exceptionally good or entertaining log, they can also look forward to karma awards.
So a new section was introduced where the players can post their journal entries. You can read them in the Character Journals section!
The coding is still a bit shoddy, but you can look forward to a cleaner version of the scripts and the ability to leave shadowtalk comments with each entry pretty soon. |

After I fucked up the database good and proper this afternoon, I'm happy to say that daily backups are your friend. A crash course in some shell-commands that I wasn't familiar with yet ultimately lead to the restoration of everything I broke, with the exception of two posts left by Creeps; Sorry, dude.
Meanwhile, I got an email by Dogsoup, one of our newest members, asking if I would host some shadowrun-related material he'd written some time ago. I threw up a new section called House Rules to accomodate this and added his Makeshift Weather Generator v2.0.
I've also been working on a way to mark new shadowtalk posts, or characters as old, on request of Fortune. I'm almost there, so don't be surprised if you run across some persistent errors for the coming two days or so. |
