After the giant fuck up in A Deadly Game of Chess the characters are asked to preform a very hot, dangerous run into the Shalish Shidhe territory. Van Zant, their Johnson, had previously had a lot of trouble moving their merchandise and paying up, so the runners were pretty cautious about doing business with him again. However, at the negotiations of the deal, he offered them the money that he still owed them and a cred advance that almost rivaled their last paycheck.

The run details were as followed:
The day before, late in the evening, an Atlantean Foundation automated cargo truck had passed through Seattle from up north in the Cascades where there was a dig site they were working on. It carried fossils and artefacts of no real value. Upon hitting the Tir border near Portland, things were calm. A little after midnight, the truck passed the border into the Shalish Shidhe again, but this time with an armed escort for it was carrying items of some value bound for Seattle before continuing on to the Cascade dig-site.

At the border the truck was inspected, as were all incoming and outgoing vehicles. The Tir borders were tight at the time, since the Elves got seriously paranoid after Dunkelzahn's assassination. In the cargo hold of the truck, five people were found, who quickly took control over the cargo truck through superior magical and firepower. They sped into the Sinsearach, with which the Tir has an agreement which stipulates that the Tir border guards my follow any pursuit, and the border guards did so, rather vehemently.

The cargo truck, shaking off the pursuit for long miles, reached the Shalish Shidhe border around 3 am that day, and barreled right through the checkpoint and into the Native American Nation, heading north along the I6. The Native Americans Council then decided something that put political pressure on an already difficult situation; they refused the Tir border guards access to their lands and said that they'd continue the pursuit and extradite the people after they had been captured and details become more clear.

The Elves, sent home, were miffed and the Tir Council of Princes began bickering amonst themselves over the decision to set a small team of Tir Ghosts in for the extraction of a very important item in the cargo truck. The Native Americans knew that the Tir Council was after something in the truck, but they didn't know what yet. The Atlantean Foundation had their hands tied by the Tir Council of Princes, and the word got out to Van Zant. He didn't know what was in the truck, but it was probably worth a lot, and thus worth getting.

The team was informed that the group who had taken the cargo truck for a joy-ride were in fact several well-known runners, and part-time friends, under the leadership of Roadblock, who had - as it later appeared - used the cargo truck to make a quick "in and out" into the Tir to extract a young boy for a Renraku Johnson named Caleb. He gotten about halfway through the Shalish Shidhe before the truck was forced off the road and he and his group had taken shelter in a cave, digging themselves in so deep, that it took a while before the Shalish Shidhe Elite Guards knew how to approach the situation. Roadblock's group was so heavily armed and magically apt, that it was virtually impossible to take them out.

So the runners are sent in to retrieve whatever it is that everyone is making such a big stink out of it, and they have the opportunity to rescue their fellow runners out of a jam if they can find a good opportunity.

They go in, everything goes wrong, and it turns into a great slaughter-fest. Miraculously, all runners survive, and they have the item they're looking for: The Seal of Green Gloves.

Bequest #81 of Dunkelzahn's Will read:

"To Inazo Aneki of Renraku, I leave the Seal of the Green Gloves, which will permit you or your proxy to enter Tibet. Use your time there as you will, but do not abuse the privilege or you will suffer for your misdeeds."

.: The Seal of Green Gloves - Aftermath :.

In the wake of their operation in the Native American Nations, Isabella decides to babysit Jack - a complete stranger to the ways of the Sprawl, and the ways of modern society. He seems to want something in Seattle, but nobody really wants to bother listening to what he has to say. Quickly, he is lost in the urban jungle where he decides he's far better off alone than with the people that took him there.

At that same time, Isabella falls under the investigation of OC Detective Madsen, who makes her life difficult by asking her seemingly irrelevant questions. She thinks that if they had anything on her in regards to the Greendale's attack, they would've taken her in. Simple harassment, she decides.

Six, Nina, Joy and Cronos had to be hospitalised.

Roadblock and Fei deliver Willis to the Johnson, who doesn't want to take the kid off their hands. Apparently, when Joy unplugged the kid from Wedge's cyberdeck, he suffered some neurological damage, and now he's damaged goods. So all in all, Roadblock's team didn't get paid, and won't be, until they find a way to repair the kid's neural pathways. Six and Fei develop serious grudges towards Joy.

Van Zant invites all the runners to meet at the Windows to the World restaurant at the Seattle Space Needle. Some of the runners have had some dealings there, involving Mantis spirits, and an ex-Knight Errant Firewatch Team. They get paid everything he still owed the runners, including the money for the recovery of the chess piece. The meet is pleasantly comfortable, and everyone enjoys a nice dinner in the presence of their Johnson, who waxes intellectually about the changes in the corporate powerbalance following Dunkelzahn's death.

Having the money, Cronos was hospitalised again and went out in a few days, but had to come back some time later in order to have his mutilated right leg replaced with a vat grown leg. He was under for about a week, hooked up on simsense equipment while they went to work on his leg. When he came to, he had to go in for some fysiotherapy to learn how to use his new leg. He was advised to keep the stress on it to a minimal, as the nanites repaired the nearal pathways.
