Breaktime is a small, family-owned diner in Downtown Seattle, boasting the "¥3.99 All-Day Breakfast" and the "Big Booster™" - a 1 litre take-away cup of coffee - as well as a history stretching from before the time of the Awakening. The third generation owner, manager and chef-cook, Carlos Guiverra, has been able to keep his head above the waves through smart marketing and owning the building he operates from.
Chain-coffeeshops and diners were quickly overtaking the still relatively "independent-spirited" entrepeneurs operating out of the Seattle Downtown area starting in the early '90s of the previous century, and Carlos' grandfather considered that a corruption of individuality, creativity and free market competition. He instilled that sense into his son, and he, in turn, tried to in Carlos. But Carlos just saw an opportunity to draw in many people, with his reactionairy image, even if they weren't the ones with the most money to spend.
Carlos manages to make a tidy profit on the diner as well as the space he's renting out to the handful of people that live above the diner. He himself lives at the top floor, having easy and quick access to the diner through the alley next to the building. Two door exit into the alley, and a door down is the door to the hallway that give access to the residences.
